Depression is one of the most common mental disorders. 16-20 percent of all people are depressed at least once during their lives. The most important symptoms of depression are despondency, loss of interest, a lack of pleasure and reduced drive. Quite often depression triggers other symptoms, including physical conditions, such as disturbed sleep, anxiety, self-doubt and difficulty concentrating.
The possible causes of depression are manifold and include biological and psychological factors.
It is assumed that, amongst other things, often psychological factors may also underlie depression. These include, for example, negative thought patterns acquired in childhood, negative experiences with former attachment figures (neglect by parents or violence).
Such experiences often lead to feelings of self-rejection and the development of a negative self-image. Often the environment is considered suspicious and pessimistic. As a consequence, those affected also interpret neutral events as something negative and as confirmation of their pessimistic world view.
With "Health Coaching by Health World®" the causes of a disease are recognized and mentally resolved. There are various causes of depression. Rarely is the cause only to be found in external factors such as stress at work, in the relationship etc. More frequently it is internal stress factors or a combination of internal and external stress factors.
During the "Health Coaching" sessions these internal stress factors, which are mostly unconscious, are uncovered and resolved mentally, so that clients can themselves identify why they have become ill.
While conventional medicine focuses exclusively on treating the causal physical symptoms by, for example, influencing the brain metabolism, "Health Coaching" concentrates on bringing to light the various unknown causes which are responsible for the depression and resolving them mentally.
This process includes not only the causes of the depression, but also the underlying problems with the brain metabolism and the causes of the accompanying symptoms such as self-doubt, insomnia, etc.
If there are other serious concomitant diseases present such as eating disorders, anxiety, substance abuse etc., these causes are also recognized and resolved at the same time in the "Health Coaching" process.
The most widespread chronic conditions in Western countries are heart and circulatory diseases. According to recent studies, in these countries heart and circulatory diseases alone account for 45% of total mortality. They are therefore among the leading causes of death.
